Despite legally having to answer Freedom of Information requests within 20 working days, Medway Council is believed to be suffering a backlog.
The Medway Messenger asked in September for details of how long the council had taken to answer all requests since 2005.
It was finally answered last week, but it was refused under a clause which says requests should take officers less than 18 hours’ work.
A spokesman said: “The requested information would need to be extracted and retrieved from the electronic system to create a new statistical report.”
The Messenger is due to lodge a revised request for the information".
