Supporting Families
  • I thought I'd keep you updated, as Amy had her taster day last Thursday at grammar school. She felt completely at home and throughly enjoyed her day. She is one happy bunny. Any reservation of her being the only one from her school were completed dispelled when her form teacher gave her a huge hug. I'm so pleased I persisted with the appeal and contacted you. I really couldn't have done it without you or your knowledge of the system. Thank you again

October Academy Free School News

Just one new Academy opened in Kent or Medway this month: Smarden Primary School. This joins the large and growing Kemnal Academies Trust which operates out of Bromley, and also includes: Horizon Primary School in Swanley; Orchards Academy in Swanley (previously Swanley Technology College); Rainham School for Girls; and Pluckley CofE Primary School. The trust also includes: Kemnal Technology College in Bromley; three Bexley  schools; three Essex schools; and one from West Sussex.

There is also just one new application..........

This is from the Dover Federation of the Arts, comprising Shattterlocks Infant School, Barton Junior School, Whitecliffs Primary College of the Arts and Astor College for the Arts. Interestingly, this Federation is qualified to apply to become an Academy as one part of it, Shatterlocks Infant School, has an Outstanding OFSTED Report so the Astor College for the Arts (Satisfactory) could be regarded as subservient to it! A list of all open academies and those who have made application can be found here

For some reason, there appears limited information on Free School Applications, but none of the eight proposals that have received some degree of approval for 2012 opening are from Kent or Medway. A list of all potential Free Schools in Kent and Medway can be found here.
