Supporting Families
  • Hello Peter,

Well, Julianne is two weeks in and absolutely having the time of her life. She couldn't be happier. She has already joined a club and made four good friends. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She has taken everything in her stride and chats about school the moment she comes through the door.

We both want to thank you again for everything. Having a contented child is all that matters & you helped us achieve it.

    Best wishes

Further change at the top of KCC Education

I reported in January on the appointment of Malcolm Newsam as Interim Managing Director for Children, Families and Education for KCC. This overlarge Department has now split in line with  Government changes. Mr Newsam has taken on Children's Services, and a new  interim Corporate Director for Education, Learning and Skills has been appointed until a permanent Corporate Director can be found.  The new appointment is Mr Andy Roberts.....

KCC reports that " "Mr Roberts began his career as a teacher before joining Cleveland Local Education Authority. In 1996 he was the Acting Director of Education in Hartlepool, and subsequently was Director of Education in Islington and then Wokingham, where he also spent a period as Acting Chief Executive. In 2003 Andy joined the Civil Service for a three year spell before rejoining local government with Surrey County Council as their Strategic Director for Communities. He was asked to take on the role of Strategic Director for Children, Schools and Families after the Council failed its Ofsted inspection in 2008. In 2010 the Council was formally removed from intervention. Andy is currently non-executive Chairman of Babcock's education division as well as running his own advice, consultancy and interim management business". This looks like another strong, if temporary, appointment as the Department sorts out its new role with the enormous raft of changes coming down from government and the loss of 50% (and rising) of its secondary schools down the Academy route.
