Supporting Families
  • Hello Peter,

Well, Julianne is two weeks in and absolutely having the time of her life. She couldn't be happier. She has already joined a club and made four good friends. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She has taken everything in her stride and chats about school the moment she comes through the door.

We both want to thank you again for everything. Having a contented child is all that matters & you helped us achieve it.

    Best wishes

Kent eleven plus results (updated 23 October)

The pass mark requirement is the same as last year, i.e. an aggregate score of 360 over the three tests, with a minimum of 117 in any test, allowing 21% of all children living in the selective areas of Kent through. A further 4% will have been offered places with scores below this but who have been awarded a pass after a headteacher's assessment.

However, the information is just a pass/fail decision and parents will need to check with the primary school to discover their scores. These are critical before making decisions about the West Kent super selectives (see below), or whether to appeal for a place at grammar school.

There was a fall of 308 in the number of children taking the Kent Test this year, down to 10947, although the number of Kent children passing, at 4149, is almost identical to last year. The big change is an increase of 163 out of county children passing the Kent test, to 1156 (over 22% of the total), a jump of 14%. This is ironical given the adjudicator's view (see below) that there were just sufficient grammar school places to go round in West Kent this year, and indicating there could be greater difficulties for 2011 entry in West Kent. Remember when considering whether your score is likely to meet the grade for a 'superselective' that any comparisons with three or more years ago is invalid because applications then had to be made before results were known, and patterns changed significantly for 2008 entry.
