Supporting Families
  • Hello Peter,

Well, Julianne is two weeks in and absolutely having the time of her life. She couldn't be happier. She has already joined a club and made four good friends. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She has taken everything in her stride and chats about school the moment she comes through the door.

We both want to thank you again for everything. Having a contented child is all that matters & you helped us achieve it.

    Best wishes

Judd, Skinners, Tonbridge Grammar Adjudicators Decision (18 October)

The Adjudicator has ruled that the Admission Arrangements currently in force for the three schools should remain substantially in place. The only changes are to meet the regulations of the Schools Admission Code and refer to looked after children and children with statements of Special Education Need. You will find a copy of the adjudication here.

A major part of the successful argument for the status quo is the fact that by September each year (including 2010), there have been sufficient places in a west Kent grammar school for all children who had passed the eleven plus and who wanted one. This takes account of those who pulled out of the system (for example to take up places in independent schools) and decisions by Appeal Panels to admit additional children. In the latter situation, there is no consideration of the pressures such decisions place on Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar or Weald of Kent. How much longer can this continue?

However, as the Adjudicator is unlikely to revisit this for three years unless there are new arguments, it all becomes a sterile argument from now on. We are where we are!
