“I have tried to complain to the school about its actions, but I am ignored. What can I do?”

The governing body is required to establish and publicise procedures to deal with complaints. Insist on being provided with the procedure – it is sometimes difficult to obtain! Legislation does not prescribe the nature of the procedure, although there are many models about – in one recent case, all complaints went directly to the Chairman of Governors who initially responded without investigating the complaint! If you withdraw your child from the school, it becomes almost impossible to make progress with a complaint.
