Medway Secondary Schools & Academies D-F

(updated 20 June 2012)

Fort Pitt Grammar School has now become an academy It had an Outstanding Grading by OFSTED in 2009. It  reduced its intake by 30 girls from 180 to 150 a few years ago, and then in 2010 by another 30 to 120. As a result it has been considerably oversubscribed ever since. There were just 4 successful appeals for 2010 entry, although several appellants had already passed the Medway Test and there appeared to be room in the school. 27 qualified first choices oversubscribed on 2nd March 2010. For 2012 entry it was 16 first choices oversubscribed. THe schooll continues to put up a robust defence at appeal to try and  keep numbers to as close to 120 as possible. The school has changed its oversubscription criteria dramatically for 2013 entry.. Whereas previously it gave priority to children living nearest the school, it now gives priority to children living within two miles, and then to those living on the Hoo Peninsula, tohgether with Cuxton. This will cut out many girls who would traditionally have gone to the school.
