Oak Trees Community Primary school in Maidstone has improved its performance steadily to 53% of children achieving level 4 in English and mathematics combined, having been the lowest performing school two years ago.  White Cliffs Primary in Dover showed the greatest improvement on last year’s performance and in this school, every child in year 6 achieved Level 4 in mathematics. Of the 74 schools that achieved less than 55% in English and mathematics in 2009, 42 have successfully reached or exceeded the target in 2010. Only 24 schools (6%) boycotted SATs this year compared to 26% of schools nationally. All 24 schools had a thorough moderation of their teacher assessment".
